INDIANAPOLIS – A full day of match play at Meridian Hills Country Club trimmed the field from 16 to four Thursday, setting the stage for the semifinal round of the 99th Women's Western Junior Championship.

The semifinals will start at 8 a.m. CT on Friday and will feature four of the nation's top junior golfers, with all remaining players ranked inside the top 100 by the AJGA.

That group includes stroke-play medalist Elizabeth Guthrie of Charlotte, North Carolina. Guthrie, No. 68 in the AJGA rankings, showed no signs of slowing down with the shift to match play, defeating 2025 runner-up Kara An, of Valencia, California, 2 up before knocking off Jupiter, Florida’s Grace Carter – the highest-ranked player in the field – 4 and 3 in the afternoon.

Guthrie won Nos. 4, 8, 10, 12 and 13 to build a 5-up advantage over Carter. After Carter claimed No. 14, Guthrie closed out the match with a birdie on the difficult 150-yard par-3 15th.

"My tee shots were really solid again," Guthrie said. "I made more putts in my second match, played steady golf and made a lot of birdies."

After defeating Jenna Kim, of Raleigh, North Carolina, in the Round of 16, Iris Lee, of Orlando, Florida, advanced with a 2-and-1 quarterfinal victory over Grace Lee, of Suwanee, Georgia.

No. 24-ranked Iris Lee appeared in control after building a 4-up lead through 13 holes, but Grace Lee responded by winning Nos. 14, 15 and 16 to cut the deficit to one. Iris Lee answered by making birdie on the 292-yard, par-4 17th to secure her place in the semifinals.

"My putting was pretty good," Lee said. "I had a few mishits with my driver, but they moved up the tees on 17, which is a tricky hole. I managed to get it on the green, and it was a nice comeback for me."

No. 92-ranked Athena Singh, of Morehead, Kentucky, opened the day with a 3-and-2 victory over Alexandra Snyder, of Orlando, Florida, before facing Alyssa Rigby, of Vancouver, Washington, in the quarterfinals.

The match remained tightly contested throughout the front nine, with neither player holding more than a 1-up advantage through the first 11 holes. Singh squared the match on No. 12 before winning back-to-back holes on Nos. 14 and 15. The players halved the 16th and 17th holes as Singh closed out a 2-and-1 win.

"I just kept making some really long putts," Singh said. "Honestly, I wasn't expecting most of them to go in, but they kept dripping over the edge perfectly. It was really fun. Going into tomorrow, I need to keep the confidence I have from winning these two matches."

After surviving a tight first-round match with a 1-up victory, No. 55-ranked Maria Isabella Errichetto of Colombia delivered the most decisive performance of the quarterfinals, defeating Alli Wiertel, of Oswego, Illinois, 6 and 5.

Errichetto was 1 up through four holes before winning five unanswered to close out the match on the 13th green.

"I played very well today, kept my drives in the fairway and hit a lot of greens in regulation," Errichetto said. "My putting was kind of on fire, too."

Friday's semifinal matches begin at 8 a.m., with Guthrie facing Lee, followed by Singh and Errichetto at 8:10 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

First played in 1920, the Women's Western Junior is one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious junior golf championships. Past champions include Candie Kung, Cristie Kerr, Grace Park and Nancy Lopez.

Admission and parking at the Women's Western Junior are free.
